theshinjukucroc: (Giving Orders)
This is Kaito.

Call back if it's important.

If not then go fuck yourself. I don't give a shit about it.
theshinjukucroc: (And You Are?)
[Kaito can be seen writing a list, cigarette dangling from his mouth. Due to the angle, one can see the list.]

Nice:
1. Knocked down mistletoe.
2. Stepped in to save the pet.
3. Have Gazelle living with me.
4. Gave the blond brat the name Beandick. It works.
5. Dropped Agito on his ass for talking like shit to his mother.
6. Joined the police.

Naughty:
1. Let Agito know that he's mine to make him flail.
2. Told Akito he was too gay to be cool.
3. Threatened some kid.
4. Destroyed Beandick's place.
5. Chased Beandick out of the place that was his.

[He stops there and thinks a moment.]

Huh. Better move four and five on the Naughty list up to the Nice...
theshinjukucroc: (Don't Care)
Hey Shit in the Red Suit,

Go on a diet or I will shoot your ass.

- Kaito
theshinjukucroc: (Wind Blown)
Hey.

[Kaito is not amused. And here is why. He lifts up his other arm that has a flailing and screaming Agito attached to it by handcuffs. Yep, they really are stuck together.]

Who wants to tell me how to get it off?

[Every possible four letter word is coming from Agito.]

FUCK. FUCK. FUCK.

It doesn't stop screaming.

[He just leaves Agito hanging and flailing like that as he ends the recording.]

[ooc: Italics = Agito.]
theshinjukucroc: (And You Are?)
[Kaito is on the roof today. That's a good place for a smoke That and it's just high up. He likes high places sometimes.

Shifting the cigarette in his mouth, he gets it out of his way so he can talk. He can't remove it and handle the device. He only has one arm here.]

So, who is a good doctor around here that can fix a busted shoulder? Points go to whoever manages to reply first and business to the best offer.

[He moves the device to show off his bandaged shoulder and how his arm is in a makeshift sling.]

I'm done with this shit. Healing is recommended.
theshinjukucroc: (Handsome Devil)
[Kaito can be seen sitting on the couch at the place that Kazu and Akito share. He has a cigarette dangling from his lips and a gun in his good hand.

Suddenly there are several loud bangs followed by the shattering of something made of glass.]

Little brat. Thinks he can just take forever.

[He glances down to see the device is on and grins. He sets his gun down and picks it up.]

Alright listen up. My pet has gone missing. If anyone of you pieces of trash ate him there will be hell to pay. He belongs to me.
theshinjukucroc: (Old Man)
[The fountain in the middle of the City can be seen. And it looks like there is someone sitting on the edge of it. He has a cigarette hanging from his lips as he looks around. More than that though, he has his left arm in a sling and there seems to be blood there as well. Not that he's reacting too badly to it.

If anything, he looks bored.

Finally, he sees the device is on and he picks it up.]

Where am I? I want answers now. [He grins dangerously suddenly.]

Do you think you can just get away with this? I'm a cop. I'll shoot whoever did this in their damn face.

[series]: Air Gear
[character]: Kaito Wanijima

[character history / background]: Kaito was said to have been a good student who just happened to have rebellious ways. He even had a street gang of skateboarders called Yellow Rain when he was about nineteen. All of the members looked up to him and followed his every word. The police frowned upon the gang but that didn't bother him at all. This was his way of having freedom. And it was around this time that a Gravity Child known as Gazelle came into his life.

She was an AT rider, something that no one had ever seen before at that time. She was also injured and without her memories of what she really was. One could say he was instantly attracted to her and they became closer as time passed. It wasn't long before they'd actually managed to share their feelings and became a couple. The police weren't fond of this because damage was already being done by someone with ATs. Because of this, the police sent in an undercover agent amongst the member of Yellow Rain.

While they were happily living together, one of his allies sold them out to another Gravity Child named Nike. It seemed that Gazelle was on the run from Nike and his twin brother Sora. The two were after her ATs. They met up again when Nike was about to kill the informant but was stopped by Gazelle. A fight began but she was no match for the twins. Wanting to save her, Kaito was given AT armor by Doctor Minami. Even with this armor though, he couldn't win the fight. They were going to lose no matter what. It was then that the informant hit the twins allowing Kaito and Gazelle to escape, right before the twins slaughtered him for stopping them.

They decided to flee Japan then. However, they were attacked on their way to Russia. Setting up a trap, Kaito tried to take out the twins by blowing up the armor when they were close to it. Unfortunately this failed and they went after the two. In order to put an end to it all and save Kaito, Gazelle committed suicide despite Kaito screaming for her not to. The twins then collected the core of the Thorn Regalia from her and left them to die. Kaito was saved though and when he woke up from his comatose state, he returned to Japan.

After graduating from a University, he pursued a career in law enforcement. With most of his old gang, they created a group known as the Windstorm G-Men. This was a special SWAT team dedicated to fighting against the damages AT riders could cause. This was revenge after what had happened with Gazelle. He wasn't about to ever let someone else suffer like he had because of ATs. Kaito went to live with an officer who used to hound him back when he was the leader of the gang. Somewhere in here he met Kilik and inspired him to do something different with the world of AT.

At this time a child showed up at his doorstep. A young boy who had an uncanny resemblance to Gazelle. The boy had a note from Doctor Minami. It said that he'd pulled Gazelle from the sea and that she'd been pregnant. The doctor had increased the growth of the child to make him older in order to stabilize him. This child who had multiple personalities was named Akito when kind, Agito when aggressive (who came after training by Kaito), and Lind when the personality of Gazelle came to the surface. Embracing the boy, he decided he would protect him at all costs.

Akito/Agito became a part of the SWAT team believing that Kaito was their older brother rather than their father. Together they arrested Storm Rider teams for causing damage around the city. Sometimes they even annihilated them by defeating them. This was actually how they were introduced to Ikki. Ikki and his friends had come to watch a parts war. Kaito set Agito lose on the other team he was to fight then left. He knew that Agito could easily take them down which meant that he went back to his team so they could arrest the ones that weren't just going to end up in the hospital. This included anyone who happened to be in the area. After he gathered everyone, he went over to point a gun at Ikki for being naked around Akito/Agito like that. He wasn't going to allow that kind of behavior. What he hadn't realized was that Agito had already made Ikki his target. So when the group escaped, Agito stopped Kaito from going after them because he wanted them. What no one expected to happen was that Ikki would convince Akito to join him and be free.

Not at all pleased with this, Kaito looked for him until he happened to come across him on the road one day. As it turned out, his way of protecting him and keeping him safe was to keep him in a cage most of the time. It didn't take long to collect him though. However, the capture didn't last long because Ikki had broken the break for his Hummer and he had to go chase it down. After that, he didn't try to track him down again, allowing him to have his freedom.

Ikki brought Akito/Agito onto his team and they went up against another team known as Behemoth. Right at the end when they had gained a victory, Kaito's group showed up to arrest people. After all, they were damaging the place as AT riders always do. To prevent an all out war between the riders and the police, the leader of Behemoth, Akira, gave himself up. As it turned out, he was a former member of the squad anyway and he was brought back on to work for them. This allowed him to witness Akito coming to get money a little later and Kaito pretending like he didn't see Akito and Ikki so the two could escape.

His next significant role came when he was flying to Genesis' aircraft carrier. With a rocket launcher, he blasted open the side of the ship just in time to save his son in a fight with another couple of AT riders. While battling with the riders, they concluded that he must be Gazelle. He laughed and told them that they were wrong. The Lind personality inside Akito/Agito woke up and the past was revealed. It was Lind who was actually Gazelle. Akito/Agito came to understand that Kaito had been trying to keep them safe all along and that this was their father. Lind then injured the enemy. However, one of them rose up to impale Kaito in a non-lethal way. Yet, he would die if Lind didn't win quickly. Of course Lind won and left Agito to take care of Kaito's wound. After a comical bonding moment between the two, Kaito had his son move on to help the others while Akira came to get him. With Akira, he left the ship in a helicopter.

[character abilities]: Kaito is completely human and has no supernatural powers. He can also be injured or killed. Really, he is much like any mortal man. That said, he does have superior aim when it comes to weaponry and favors a gun with rubber bullets or a whip. He is also a capable AT rider even if he isn't superior at it. Plus he can drive vehicles of all kinds even if he does so in a dangerous manner. And if chain smoking without losing lung capacity counts as an ability then he totally has that too.

He also happens to be a capable leader on top of that and knows how to gain respect. People under him want to follow him. And he can really take a beating and keep on going.

[character personality]: Looking at Kaito's actions one would believe that he was a complete ass who also happened to be an abusive older brother. He is not afraid to tell someone that they're garbage and he has been known to fire rubber bullets at people just for being annoying. This is a man who chain smokes and uses his position to his advantage. It's easy to see why people would think of him as one of the biggest jerks in history. However, to understand him one must carefully examine these layers to grasp the bigger picture.

Let's begin with that whole police thing. Take one look at him and you would never think he's cop material. Which is where you'd be wrong. This man has a very strong sense of justice. He does not like people breaking the law and will hunt them down to the last man just to put an end to it. This does not mean that he doesn't abuse his position for things. Examples can include arresting someone for getting in his way or expecting traffic to move just because he's a cop. There really are reasons why people have trouble believing that he's a cop. After all, what kind of a cop will just start firing rubber bullets at someone just for pissing him off and grinning dangerously while he does it?

Then there is his anti-AT rider thing. People will think he's being ridiculous about hunting them down. His entire purpose on the police force is to do exactly that. Of course this could be a White Whale sort of thing. On the other hand, he has personally seen how it can destroy lives and rip people to pieces. They are dangerous and he doesn't feel like they should be as popular as they are. That world could destroy his city and he doesn't want anyone else to have to suffer what he's suffered because of these ATs. It's a true and genuine concern even if next to no one can see it.

Kaito is also a cocky man who expects to be respected on sight. He is a policeman. That means he's earned it. Whether or not he deserves it is another matter. On the flip side, he doesn't really give a damn what people think about him. They hate him? Fine. They respect him? Fine. He will even put the reputation of the police on the line. It's really not something that motivates him. But being part of the police means he thinks he's entitled to things. Like things that his department can't actually afford to have or people getting out of his way when he's driving. At those times he can flip a switch from calm to yelling his head off at whomever is walking by.

He seems to also have a sadistic side to him. When he's shooting at someone or when he's whipping them, he has a grin on his face. This is best displayed with his son, Akito/Agito, or when he's dealing with the people he's trying to arrest. It's one of the reasons people are freaked out by him. A cop really shouldn't get that much of a kick out of hurting someone else.

Now let's focus on his relationship with Akito/Agito. This is where we best see the various aspects of his personality. When they are introduced he uses the boy as a tool in combat and abuses him when he's apparently misbehaves. He often threatens to cause him harm in ways that involve grabbing his tongue and threatening to shoot it. Of course he also does actually abuse him. He will shoot those rubber bullets at him and whip him and throw him in a cage. He even calls the boy his "pet". This isn't exactly what anyone outside of these two would call love.

But there is so much more going on. When looking in the trailer that was the home of Kaito and his son for years there are pictures all over the place of them smiling and laughing together. Obviously they did have happy times together. For Kaito this is his son. He really does love him and care about him. Others aren't allowed to harm him and, when they take Akito/Agito from him, he gets upset when he's gone. Yet, there is a moment where the boy comes to get money and he pretends that he had too much to drink and is just seeing things while saying where the money is before letting him go free. In that moment, you see his hand shake because he doesn't want to let him go though he knows he has to. Of course he covered this up by saying that his son could be a spy to Akira later because he doesn't like to expose his heart to anyone.

He is very protective of his son. All of that putting him in a cage was to keep him safe. It seems very twisted, yes. However, he's genuinely afraid of losing him forever. He's already lost part of his family and even tried to teach his son that it was evil. This boy is all that he has left in his life. Now he's allowing the child to live free so that way both sides can grow up but that doesn't stop him from rushing in to protect his son even when he can't do a single thing against AT riders that are far stronger than him.

When it comes to emotions though, he doesn't seem to handle them well. For example, when Agito tells him that he'll hold the cup for him so he can drink water after Kaito is hurt, he hits him with a metal bar. He has a hard time saying he cares or that he loves someone or even opening up to others. For the longest time he just had Akito/Agito believing that he was an older brother rather than a father. Though he doesn't want to lose his child, he seems unable to really bond with him in most cases.

Kaito also has a reckless attitude that can lead him to taking a rocket launcher and blowing open the side of a ship. Or driving dangerously on the roads. Or leaving the steering wheel when the car is still moving. He even will fight against AT riders that are faster and stronger than him without hesitating. And the entire time that he's doing this? Why, he'll be just smoking a cigarette or grinning like a demon. Even money is something that he will casually deal with. He will ask things like why the police force doesn't have jet planes or not be overly bothered when his hummer ends up in a man-made river. Money isn't that big of a deal to him.

More than that though, he generally is very carefree when he's calm. That chain-smoking must be really good for keeping him relaxed because he is often seen just sitting or standing about. He's sort of like a wild predator in these moments though. So calm and relaxed. However, he can snap at any moment in a violent manner.

It should be noted that even though he doesn't look it, he is very intelligent. When in school he got the top marks and was admired by those under him. Even now he's well respected by his men who will listen to his every word. Not only that but he has pretty good instincts about a situation to know how to handle it best. When he listens to these instincts he's quite dangerous.

Kaito does not seem to respect very many people. In fact, he's quite open to calling people filth or trash if they displease him. Staying on his good side is not the easiest thing in the world for anyone. He's not some tame animal. He's called the Shinjuku Crocodile and he's willing to bite anyone who happens to cross his path. Holding back on the insults when someone has pissed him off just isn't his style and it's likely that he wouldn't want to hold back on them in any case. Far better to just let go and force everyone else to just deal with it.

Possibly the only one he's really more gentle with and less likely to lash out at is Gazelle/Lind. She always was able to bring out that softer side of him. When Lind comes out, he offers the same attitude to him because that personality basically is Gazelle but in the Agito/Akito body. Lind tends to stay hidden away though and Gazelle is dead. Therefore, this softer side of him rarely ever comes to the surface. He'd much rather keep it hidden away where no one can find it. Gazelle/Lind are also the only ones where he won't lash out if they happen to say or act affectionate with him. He clearly treats them differently from other people.

This obviously is not an easy man to deal with. More so because he keeps his feelings to himself for the most part. Still, it's quite obvious that he's proud of his position as a policeman and is also possessive of Akito/Agito. Cocky and very sure of him, he expects people to respect him while not giving a damn about what they might think of him. Of course if it's good then it feeds his ego. Don't piss him off though, he has a violent side to him and is quite the sadist. He really does enjoy whipping others who have done just one too many things to get on his bad side.

Trying to figure out this man is difficult even for those who have known him for years. Often only his surface actions will be noticed. Even Akito/Agito didn't realize what Kaito's biggest fear was until the flashbacks when Lind appeared. So most people will only see the very surface of his personality despite everything else that has been covered here. He internalizes like nobody's business. It should always be noted that actions rarely equal his real feelings when it comes to Kaito Wanijima. Quite frankly he is content to let it stay that way. And if you try to be affectionate with him do not expect affection back. He simply doesn't give it.

He's a man on a mission to end the suffering AT causes. That's the number one thing. He's seen too much pain from it. Far too much. If he can he will now protect his son from it but at the same time is trying to let him go so that way he can grow up to make his own decisions. Hardly an easy thing for someone with an obsessive nature that is constantly playing in the back of his head. Especially when the person he's letting his son go to is a an idiot like Ikki.

A word to the wise though: Do not harm the last thing he has left in his life that is good. He will hunt your ass down.

[point in timeline you're picking your character from]: Chapter 326

[journal post]:

[There's a lovely and horrible screech of feedback coming across the Network. It's quite loud, impossible to ignore.]

Have I got your attention?

[Kaito's face comes on and he's got a cigarette hanging from his lips. He looks quite calm.]

Alright. I want some answers. [He points the device to the Underground entrance.] What's down there and which piece of garbage do I have to shoot to get an answer?

[He blows a bunch of smoke at the screen.] You get until ten then I shoot.

[He grins then as he starts counting while letting things fade to black.] 1...2...3...

[third person / log sample]:

Two weeks. That was how long he'd been in this place. Akito had told him it was called the City or some shitty name like that. Honestly he couldn't figure out how people couldn't have the creativity to at least give it a better name than that. They were stuck living here. Apparently he couldn't really depend much on the brains of trash.

Blowing out a puff of smoke, Kaito stared at the ceiling as he let those thoughts play through his head. This was that kid Kazu's place. He'd been brought here when he arrived so that way he could heal from the injury to his shoulder. Since he'd been unable to move it, he'd needed the help. It wasn't like he had a better place to go. Besides, Agito had been the one to come and get him. So, since he hadn't had much of a choice, he'd made the most of his time recovering. The results were plan to see all around him.

An ashtray overflowing with cigarette buds, beer cans here and there, a take-out box on the couch next to him, and pieces of debris all over. He'd even been kind enough to shoot at the walls, leaving behind holes that would have to be filled in at some point. It wasn't his place so he hadn't bothered to take care of anything. Then again, the trailer he used as a home hadn't been that much better really.

Didn't matter much. He could let that Kazu brat clean up the mess when he left with what was his.

Akito and Agito, two parts of one body. For years they'd been his little brother. He'd raised them up and taken care of them. They belonged to him which meant he didn't want anyone taking them from him. Too bad that asshole Storm King had come along though. Taken the kid right out from under his nose. Well it was fine. He could just let that little brother of his do all the work of keeping an eye on him for Kaito.

Deep down though, he knew that wasn't the real reason. Closing his eyes, he took a moment to really dwell on how he felt about them. He cared about them. The fact was that that body was the body of his son. All the personalities in there were ones he cared about and wanted to protect. If they'd just stayed with him in the cage then they wouldn't be at risk now. They wouldn't be in danger of all that happened out there in the world of the ATs. He could have kept them safe forever with them in that cage. It was what he kept telling himself all the time.

But even he couldn't lie to himself forever. They deserved their freedom. Sharks didn't belong locked away in tanks. They were meant to be out there roaming in the open waters. Damn sharks.

Leaning forward, he rested one elbow on his leg, the cigarette just dangling from his lips. He could see the smoke rising up in front of his eyes like this. It blocked him from really seeing the rest of the room. He was alone in the apartment so he could zone out all he liked. There weren't any little brats here to think something strange was going on here.

Years ago he'd actually been in love. Really in love. Gazelle had fallen from the sky to be with him. That was how it had felt back then. Not that he'd ever admitted that or ever would. Things like that were the cheesy romantic things that were in movies. It just wasn't realistic. What had been real though was how alive she could make him feel. She'd been the wings he'd never been able to have because he'd been dwelling on the ground for so long. Even if he wasn't one for all the romantic trash, he could admit to that in the confines of his own mind. Gazelle had been everything he'd ever wanted. Together they'd been really and truly happy.

And in an instant it was all taken away from him. Air Trek, the airborne inline skates that were so popular in his world these days, had killed her. That whole world. It was deadly and destructive. He'd witnessed two kids be killers with those things. All to go after Gazelle. If it hadn't been for that world, she would have been able to live. They would have been able to raise their child together as a happy family.

He thought he lost everything that day she died. According to Kaito, he might as well have. She'd been his reason for everything. So, he'd made her his reason for taking down AT riders for destroying his city. If he could take them down then he could have his revenge for what that world had done to her. And to him.

A light of hope had showed up on his doorstep though. His son. And the kid looked just like Gazelle. In every aspect but gender. In that moment he swore he would keep him safe. He couldn't lose what was so precious to him again. When he'd lost him it felt like a piece of his soul had been ripped away. But even he could see that his son deserved the chance to be free. To taste the world and find his own love and reason to keep fighting. It wasn't right for him to keep him from that.

However, there was no way that Kaito wouldn't find a way to protect him. Like on that ship. He'd located him and taken on that AT couple who thought they could just have their way with what was his. He could just feel his lips curling into a dark smile as he remembered how he'd walked in there to fight them. It didn't even matter to him that they were stronger. It mattered even less that Lind had needed to come out and save him.

Shit it had been good to see that side.

Lind was Gazelle inside of Akito and Agito's body. Now his child knew that they weren't brothers. His child knew everything. All this time he'd just wanted him to be safe and happy. Apparently he couldn't have both of those things at the same time though. Safe or happy. He'd decided to let him find happiness instead. It was out there for him somewhere.

"Gazelle would have wanted that," he muttered to himself before looking up. The door was opening to reveal that Akito had come back. Akito, the physically weaker one of the personalities in that little body. He heard him say something about the mess but Kaito wasn't listening to that. Gazelle would want their child to be out there happy.

Well, the Kazu trash couldn't do that for him.

Giving him a toothy grin, Kaito got to his feet and grabbed something heavy as he followed after Akito into the kitchen. It really didn't take much to knock him out and throw him over his shoulder. They could go find happiness together at their own place. He was done here. Besides, this apartment wasn't suitable for his son. It was a mess. It took him a couple of minutes just to figure out where his whip went. Once he had it though, he went to head out.

He had that grin still on his face as he kicked open the door to go find somewhere else to live. "Don't worry, pet. I'll make sure that you don't get lost again."

Sorry, Gazelle. I have to keep him safe here. There's more than ATs in this hell hole.

Sample Two:

It had been just a few days since Kaito had managed to convince the police here to hire him. This was what he was good at so he intended to keep going with it. Especially since there were AT riders here in the City. The evidence of that was this wall he was currently staring at. Honestly he was sure that Agito had probably been the one to cause this kind of damage but he didn't even bother to really dwell on that because these had been caused by ATs.

Slowly a dangerous grin formed on his face as he looked at the wall some more. This was evidence. All the proof he needed to get the police to put laws on the things was staring him right in the face. Hunching a bit, his shoulders started to shake like he was laughing. This was just so damn perfect.

Off to his side, a crowd was beginning to form. They'd never seen damage quite like this. Oh sure the City could crumble down around them on multiple occasions but this was different. Well, let them see what those things could do to their precious walls. Because the walls were just the beginning. The damage always ended up going beyond that. Gazelle had taught him that.

Turning on his heel, he went to go walk to the station to demand that laws be made. Or he would have if his path weren't blocked by the crowd. Frowning, he stared at them all before a vein in his head twitched. Suddenly his gun was out and he was waving it around in the air.

"Get out of my way! I'm the police, you shitty pieces of trash!"

Those that didn't move fast enough were pegged with rubber bullets that left them wailing and rushing to get out of his way. Just as he'd planned. Smirking in triumph, Kaito blew smoke from his cigarette at them before strolling through the parted crowd. The look was dangerous on his face and gave him a look that was almost demonic. He could just hear the whispers of how scary it looked. People were scared of everything these days.

Now, about going to the station for those laws...
